Tequila
has always been a slightly oddball among all other kinds of alcohol. Maybe
because it is brewed only in Mexico from a single plant variety, or maybe
because of the fact that tequila shots give off a stronger hangover than any
other kind of alcoholic shots: the reasons can be many. However, there can be
no denying that Tequila is slowly gaining popularity outside Mexico, but the
main reason for this may surprise you: Tequilas are supposedly good for health.
But isn’t
Tequila technically alcohol? And aren’t alcoholic drinks ‘far’ from healthy?
Why does Tequila hold the special distinction then?
The best
tequilas are extra Añejo tequilas, which are often popped open for special
occasions and celebrations, whereas Blanco tequila is the least aged but purest
form of tequila spirit. As surprising as it may sound, Blanco tequila is the
one that many prefer over the best extra Añejo tequilas for ‘health’
reasons.
Many
people in different parts of the United States were asked about why they switched
to Tequila and why do they consider it to be healthier than other alcohols. The
answers were an eye-opener to many who did not know the kind form of tequila, a
far cry from the general hardness associated with tequila shots. Some prefer
tequila over beer or whiskey because of they sensitive to wheat products. Plus,
other alcohols are hard, whereas aged tequilas lose their hardness and have
much-improved taste, making it best for old folks who find it hard to process
other alcoholic drinks like wine and whiskey. Another reason given is the
health benefits of the blue agave plant from which tequila is made. Common
benefits include control of blood sugar, weight loss, increasing the rate of
absorption of minerals by bones and helping indigestion.
While
Blanco Tequilas are high-quality tequilas in term of pureness, Extra
Añejo tequilas are the best in terms of taste and richness. Many sticks to
Blanco tequilas because they are not aged, and are packaged as soon as they are
made. This makes them the purest form of tequila and is practically the only
reason why a lot of people worldwide like Blanco tequila.
But the
hard taste can be a downer for many, who prefer Añejo tequilas or Extra
Añejo tequilas for regular drinking. These aren’t hard, and provide a rich
and luxurious taste unmatched by any other variant.
